Maynard grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia in 1992 with his wife, Rachel. They have been married 32 years and have three grown sons, two daughters, and two granddaughters.
Maynard was a high school computer science teacher for 4 years before entering the business world in 1996. After working for other firms, he started American Financial Planning in 2006, where he serves as President and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.
Maynard enjoys cycling and remains physically active by commuting to work by bike almost every day. In 2011, he was part of Team Roll Over Cancer, which cycled across America in 43 days to raise over $50,000 for cancer research.
Besides cycling, Maynard also enjoys collecting and restoring classic cars, including his Concours-winning 1968 AMX. He serves as the President of the Roanoke Valley Regional Antique Car Club of America (AACA).
He is a strong supporter of Constitutional rights and limited government. He has served on numerous Roanoke City task forces and committees and ran for Roanoke City Council November, 2022.
In 2012 God burdened Maynard about reaching the Jewish people of the Greater Roanoke area with the Good News of Yeshua The Messiah. Through a mutual friend, Maynard met Karl and was part of the first public meeting of Hope of Israel in November 2012. At Hope of Israel, Maynard serves as a teaching elder and the treasurer.
